I'm interested in getting a tourist visa for Nepal. My visit will probably not last more than 30 days. Can anybody tell me how I should go about getting a visa ? Also, are there any costs involved ?
I live near Washington DC.
Permalink Reply by Suraj Basnet on November 7, 2011 at 7:50am You can get a tourist visa at the Nepali Embassy which is located at 2131 Leroy Place N. W. Washington D.C. 20008, Tel: 202 667 4550 (http://www.nepalembassyusa.org/). Alternatively, you can get the visa on arrival at the Kathmandu Airport or one of the point of entries along the Indian border. You will need to carry two passport photos with you.
Visa Fees accordingly to the Nepal immigration site (http://www.immi.gov.np/download/app9.pdf) are dependent on the length of your visit.

Permalink Reply by William Fennie on December 5, 2011 at 10:39am Thanks very much - this is quite helpful. I may, in fact, visit Sri Lanka first and fly from there into India before coming to Nepal. Is there a recommended destination in India that will make the air connection to Nepal easier ?
Permalink Reply by Nancy Whelan on February 29, 2012 at 8:32pm I work for Red Panda Network and we help eco tourists plan their international travel to Nepal several times per year. We generally advise them to purchase their VISA when they land. There might be a bit of a line which isn't fun when you land, but if you're short on time on the front end, it's the easiest way. Here's what we have in our Eco Trip FAQs:
You can pay for and obtain a Visa upon arrival at the airport in Nepal. Please bring the following with you, so the Visa can be processed:
$50/per person
One passport photo. Use epassportphoto.com to get the best rate for your photos. U.S. travelers can also go to a local FedEx Office or pharmacy to get Passport photos. Or you can even wait until you arrive at the airport (where it will cost around $3) to get your photo.
Note: The Visa fee is typically around $50 (depending upon the duration of your stay). If you wish, you can visit the Department of Immigration website and download the application forms and to get relevant information.
Have a great trip!
that's really valuable and helpful information for me and i can use them when I put a plan to go there, Thanks
